FINALLY! I am not the only one in this house in their 30's...yes I am older which I hate to admit but it is true.
For those of you who remember my 30th, we went Skydiving and it was the key point at which we turned from being work friends into much more. We tried and tried to think of something comparable to do but my being older must have impacted our decision as we did not do anything nearly as risky this time around...but we had a lot of fun none the less! He also got quite the drawn out birthday over two different weekends! (The Broncos played in Baltimore the weekend before his birthday so he got an early birthday present which he quite enjoyed despite the loss.)
Neither of us have spent anything more than a couple hours in West Virginia before so we decided to take a long weekend and spend it there. We went about 5 hours deep in West Virginia so can now say we've seen the state. We spent our first few hours after arriving doing an awesome zip line. It had 10 platforms and 3 suspension bridges. I think the tallest platform was 85 ft in the air. It was a fun start to our trip! We also quickly checked out the big tourist attraction in the town - The New River Gorge Bridge - and actually got a little sad that they didn't still do bunging jumping off of that as dang that would have compared with our skydiving experience! After checking that out, we quickly realized we were going to have some free time on our hand...there really wasn't much else to do! We went to check in at the hotel and Scott was shocked to find that his sister had pre-arranged a package to be delivered there so he would know they were thinking of him. It was cool and very sweet! We went and got steak that night for dinner and Scott couldn't have been happier. The next day we headed to the local attraction which had "the best of West Virginia" shopping...we didn't walk away with anything. We then headed to paintball. We were grouped with a fun group of mainly local guys and had a few hours of a lot of fun. It was my first time and I was scared until it got started. Our team was awesome and we had a lot of fun shooting other people - yes we were sure to be on the same team so as not to start any internal wars! After this we got lunch and then tried a hike. Unfortunately, daylight was not on our side and the hike was a bit too tough to do in the dark so we didn't get as far as we wanted. We ended the day with Dairy Queen and college football! The next day we drove home and took a detour to check out West Virginia University. Glad we saw it but once was enough...as Scott said, "we've now ruled out at least one more campus where our kids will not attend."
Sunday night we had some friends over for cheesecake. The highlight was Scott had all the kids come help him out with blowing out the candles. I'd put trick candles on and the kids just couldn't figure out why they wouldn't blow out. Amazingly enough, Scott still ate that piece of cake despite all the blowing it got and he hasn't gotten sick yet. That night was a perfect end to a great birthday weekend!

Happy Birthday Scott! I really wanted to do the zip line in Hawaii. But we didn't have enough time. Stacie, zip lines always make me think of the little one you had in your yard in Peoa that broke! That was pretty funny! Looks like life doesn't slow down much for you guys. What are your holiday plans?

You guys make us look like a bunch of little scared ninnies. Ha! I have no idea how to spell ninnies. Anyway, glad to hear Scott is finally an adult :) and you guys had a good time.
